Museum courtyards, Berlin
The guiding principle is the long-term creation of a public urban space through the area as well as an urban building typology that mediates between the solitary buildings of the Museum Island and the dense blocks of the Dorotheenstadt.
The connection in the form of an urban street for pedestrians and cyclists is the backbone of the development. They and a small alley divide the area into three block-like urban units with four and five floors.
The extension of the new road on the Monbijoubrücke is a free-space counterpart on the side facing the Museum Island.
The use of the buildings is reserved for science and culture.
