Airbus paint shop, Hamburg
The shape of the building with the geometry adapted to the A380 aircraft was created through an optimization process between the user requirements in the painting process and what is economically and creatively possible.
The hall is approx. 213 m long, approx. 108 m wide and max. 38 m high.

The supporting structure of the building was developed from the requirement that the hall be free of supports, the integration of a scoop in the roof structure (for the vertical tail) and the possibility of completely opening the facade on the east side through sliding doors for docking and undocking two aircraft. Ten meter high lattice girders span the entire building.
The facade surfaces are mainly covered with 5.0 mx 1.0 m metal sandwich panels. The windows are planned as a thermally separated aluminum construction.
